President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has launched construction in the Komi Autonomous Region of the Ukhta-Torzhok-2 gas pipeline. Putin took part in a ceremony dedicated to the welding of the first seam of the new main gas pipeline in the format of a teleconference.
The Ukhta-Torzhok-2 gas pipeline will supply gas to the Nord Stream-2 gas transmission system, which will directly deliver gas from Russia to the EU bypassing Ukraine.
"About three thousand new gas pipelines will be built, the key project is the Ukhta-Torzhok-2 project. Large-scale construction begins today, and by the end of 2019, full capacity will be created, "the press service said.

The length of the Ukhta-Torzhok-2 gas pipeline will be 970 km, with a design capacity of 45 billion cubic meters. m of gas per year. Thanks to the new line, gas will be supplied via the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline to Europe. The pipeline includes the construction of eight compressor stations with a total capacity of 689 MW.
