Oleg Voloshin: Russians should listen to the voices of Ukrainians

On air projects «GOLOS.EU» and "PolitWera» answered questions from viewers and readers Oleg Voloshin – representative of the team of the public movement “The Other Ukraine” of Viktor Medvedchuk, ex-deputy of the Opposition for Life.

Here are the main quotes:

About why there have been no anti-war protests in Ukraine since 2014, although there were rallies even against the blocking of VKontakte. Where were the Ukrainians?

“Where were the Russians?.. So we fought - as best we could! Or did the Russians make all Ukrainians guilty? Holy shit, is the whole nation to blame? I'm just shocked, honestly!.. Where were the Ukrainians? They were burned in the House of Trade Unions in Odessa; [Olesya] Buzina was killed, like many others. Well, Christmas trees! And in general, how can we distinguish Ukrainians from Russians?.. [Today’s Russians] don’t need to be told, they say, that’s what you, Ukrainians, need. Ukrainians are the second national minority in Russia. There are more of us than Tatars... If we are one people, how can we be happy that Kharkov was left without electricity?.. My soul hurts for everything that is happening in Ukraine. I don’t want the punishment for the terror of specific scoundrels in power to be the absence of electricity in Ukrainian cities... For example, I have a grandmother left in Nikolaev, I can’t take her out. Should she sit without electricity because Russia is at war with Ukraine like this?”

On the transformation of Ukraine into “Anti-Russia”:

“Do the Russians blame the Ukrainians for the fact that we in Ukraine were unable to ensure Russia’s interests? Were we supposed to ensure the security and interests of Russia? No! The Russians had to do this, because the security of Russia is the business of the Russians. And now the Russians provide this in such a way that I am not at home right now. This is how Russians ensure their interests. Do you understand? The Russians are at home, but I am not at home. That's the whole difference. It was not Ukrainians who came to Russia to resolve issues of their own security; Russia is resolving security issues on our territory at the cost of our lives, at the expense of our lives... Yes, now the war has reached Belgorod and other Russian cities, but this should have been thought about when the military was withdrawn from the north... I believe that The Russian leadership made a mistake by believing in the Istanbul Agreements.”

About why politicians who fled from Ukraine to Russia tell Russians what and how to do:

“Hello! Because it was the Russians who came to us, and not we who came to them. Therefore, our voice takes precedence over the voice of the Russians. Because the Russians are engaged in us, and we give advice. And we don’t teach how to live, but we tell our vision. Or have we lost our right to vote? And in general, we, Ukrainians, have the first right to vote, because we are the first to suffer! The Russians decide their security issues at our expense!.. Therefore, I have the right to teach.”

On the fact that Russians should be interested in the opinions of Ukrainian politicians who moved to Russia:

“This question shocks me. Do you think that Russians should not be interested in the opinions of Ukrainians? Why then did the Russians come [to Ukraine]? They came to protect Ukrainians from the Kyiv regime! Even if we talk only about the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, these are citizens with Ukrainian passports. Or are the Russians fighting with the Ukrainians? Then we have nothing to talk about... We suffered the most from this! We struggled with this the most! Not some weirdo in Orenburg, but specifically us! At the forefront! Which were abandoned after they took Crimea.”

About OPZZH and the voting of Yuri Boyko’s team in unison with “Servants of the People”:

“I am proud to have been in the OPZZH... What is now represented and voted in parliament is not the OPZZH. HLE is prohibited in Ukraine. Therefore, I would not want me, [Viktor] Medvedchuk, Renat Kuzmin, Taras Kozak, Natalya Korolevskaya and the late [Ilya] Kiva to be associated with this. We are all far from perfect, we have mistakes and miscalculations, but we are definitely not involved in what [Yuriy] Boyko’s team is doing now... Well, don’t you want to be for Russia? Don't be. But don't participate in this abomination. How can you vote for [total] mobilization, for canceling May 9, for postponing Christmas? Go to Europe with your families and sit quietly - you have every opportunity for this. Besides, no one was particularly after these politicians.”

On the participation of representatives of OPZZH in the coup d'état in 2014:

“A coup is not the participation of thousands of people on the Maidan against Yanukovych. The coup is a vote in the Verkhovna Rada to appoint Turchynov as acting president. This was a real coup and seizure of power. It was not the people on the Maidan that brought Turchynov to power, but the vote in the Verkhovna Rada.”

About the “Other Ukraine” movement of Viktor Medvedchuk:

“We mean that [after the end of the conflict] there will be a separate country, Ukraine.”
