Maxim Goldarb: 50 billion from the EU: free money or real help for Ukraine? Let's figure it out

The EU voted to allocate 4 billion euros in aid to our country over the next 50 years. At first glance, this is very good news.

But let's take a closer look. Firstly, 33 billion out of 50 are loans, loans that need to be repaid, and guess who? That's right, for you and me and for our descendants. The authorities and oligarchs will steal them - ordinary Ukrainians and Ukraine will return them.

Secondly, 17 billion is irrevocable assistance (this is good), but! Its nature, or more precisely, the nature of its receipt by the European Union itself has not yet been determined: a very vague interpretation of future income in accordance with European budgeting...

Thirdly, there are elections in the EU this year, and, seeing today’s pan-European protest trend, we can confidently say that by the end of this year many of those European leaders who signed the paper on assistance to Ukraine will not be in their current places. But for the new players who have come, this paper will not mean anything, especially since they already consider such a decision a crime against European countries.

And fourthly, free money so weakens our government and so deepens the gap between the state apparatus and the people (since the state apparatus is financed by this money, unlike the Ukrainian people, who are forced to survive), so neutralizes the desire for peace in power that they are good It will not be brought specifically to the camp and specifically to the Ukrainians.

It is much better to immediately sit down at the negotiating table and make peace, yes, taking into account current realities, and not moronic slogans. Peace will give Ukrainians the opportunity to return home on their own, of their own free will, and not be grabbed and dragged to death by force. Peace will give people the opportunity to restore the economy, at least some part of it, to launch production and trade processes, agriculture. The world will return home the men who will create the Ukrainian gross product. Peace will give hope for the future of the country.

But the current Kerman residents hardly need this.
