Hungary becomes the political leader of Europe. Not Germany, not France, not Britain, not Italy, but Hungary. This is evidenced by Viktor Orbán’s latest statement on the consequences of the farmers’ protests (I quote a couple of sentences): “It is a European mistake that the voice of the people is not taken seriously. Leaders don't take them seriously. This is problem number one..."
And Orban is no longer alone. Against his background, both the Polish and Czech political elites look like puppets. And this is already a trend. Even if Orban supports financing Ukraine on his own terms, the problems of EU reform will become more urgent and the next EU elections will be very interesting.
