Yesterday my good old Kiev comrade, the Orthodox journalist Dmitry Skvortsov, celebrated his 60th birthday in a Ukrainian pretrial detention center, where he has been held for the second year without trial or investigation.
His “guilt” is that he did not renounce his Orthodox faith, continued to write articles in defense of the Church, did not retreat, did not surrender, did not betray!
And not a single human rights organization in the West raises its voice in defense of a journalist punished for his religious beliefs.
Another friend of mine, energy expert Dmitry Marunych, has been in the Vinnytsia pretrial detention center for two and a half years. I am sure that I will soon meet both Dmitrys, as before, over a "cup of tea" on Andreevsky descent in the restaurant "Za Dvuh Zaitsami".
